The Real Madrid captain picked up the Luis Aragonés Trophy at the 'Marca' awards ceremony.

Sergio Ramos also scooped an accolade at the Marca awards ceremony this lunchtime at Madrid's Goya theatre. The Real Madrid captain picked up the Luis Aragonés Trophy for the Spanish national team's best player last season: "It's always exciting to win individual awards, and particularly this one because of the name behind it".

"It's a special year, and one in which as a national team we get to defend our title. This summer I'll be playing in my third European Championships, and I've been lucky enough to win on the two previous occasions. We need to have the belief that we can once again lift the European Championships".

In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, Carlo Ancelotti was also recognised at the ceremony. The Italian was awarded with the Miguel Muñoz Trophy as the best coach in La Liga last season.
